"Wow - what a fantastic place! The scenery is amazing, the company excellent and wine is to die for! Can't wait until I get back there!"

"Our visit to Chantegrel in June of this year was our third season in the Dordogne and our 5th Gite. Aideen and I thought that your accommodation was a very good standard and we felt that we were made very welcome throughout our stay. The standard of accommodation was at least as good, if not better, than the other gites we have rented. The pool was one of the best we have seen and though we had no children to worry about, we noted that children's safety was addressed and that all guests were asked to keep the gate closed. If we visit the Dordogne again for a future holiday we would be more than happy to stay at Chantegrel once again."

"Just a brief note to let you know that we hope to pay the deposit for next year's holiday at some stage during the coming week.
We would once again like to say what a wonderful holiday we had at Chantegrel. The accommodation was first class, definitely the best we have experienced in the many years of holidaying in France. Even though we occupied the smallest of the gites it was spacious and certainly more than adequate for us two and easily could have accommodated two more. Our gite was furnished to a high standard and had all the equipment necessary to make our two weeks very comfortable. We also felt that it was indeed very charming, 'very French'.
For us the most pleasing and important factor was the cleanliness of the gite on arrival. A previous holiday was once spoilt by arriving to find the accommodation dirty. It was obvious to us that you had taken great care to make the gite as pleasant and inviting as you could. Throughout the two weeks you continued to make every effort to ensure that our holiday was a memorable one.
Once again we would like to thank you for everything and to say 'roll on July 2004!', we are already looking forward to lazy afternoons by your wonderful pool. We can't wait!!!!!!!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay in Chantegrel, we stayed in Le Cantou, which was perfect for the two of us! We were looking for peace and quiet in a rural location, this is exactly what we got, although, in fact we were only about 3km from Sarlat! The weather was fabulous and we spent much of our time kayaking on both the
river Dordogne and the Vezere - a perfect way to view the many chateaus. On days when it was too hot to do much at all, the swimming pool offered a welcome relief from the heat. Jeremy and Michelle were the perfect hosts, not at all intrusive, yet willing at any time to share their knowledge of the area (or a bottle of wine). I'm sure we will be staying again! Kind regards Jo"

"From the first e-mail we sent enquiring about the holidays you offer, we were treated to an extremely efficient and courteous service. Even when, at the last moment, we needed to change our plans, we were delighted to be reassured that it was no problem and given every assistance to adjust the arrangements. The accommodation was clean, tidy and equipped to a standard that made our stay extremely enjoyable - the washing machine was a godsend, and an item unavailable at the previous gite in which we had stayed! As for the dishwasher......... I want one at home now!! The pool was fantastic and certainly must be one of the best on offer for comparative properties. It catered for every standard of swimmer - from the tiniest learner to those of us who have had more time to practise!! It was always clean and the temperature was lovely - even for haters of cold water like me!! Anyone using the pool and its surroundings were made aware of the common sense rules to keep everyone safe and happy. We loved the situation, the gite itself and all this was enhanced by the welcoming atmosphere provided by yourself and Michelle. Thank you again for your hospitality. We would love to repeat our visit and hopefully will do so in the near future.

"We made a last minute booking for Le Buis from 13-19 July
inclusive and could not have chosen a more perfect place to unwind - especially with myself being 6-months pregnant and much in need of the ultimate relaxing holiday! Not only were you, our hosts, welcoming and attentive to all our needs on arrival (supplying much needed provisions from your own kitchen after we had failed to find a shop open on Sunday!) but also throughout our week's stay. The accommodation was exactly what we had hoped it would be, rustic simplicity but adequately comfortable with everything we required for our stay and no outside intrusion from either T.V's, radio's or unruly guests in situ closeby! Our stay was memorable for all the best reasons and we feel especially qualified to be a good judge of a good place, having experienced, what we would consider, the ultimate 'hotel from hell' in Perigueux the night prior to our arrival - there we found the prioprietor not only drunk & aggressive on our arrival (which was late in the evening & following a long day's drive south from St. Malo) but the 'luxury' room which we had prebooked and paid a 'luxury' price for, did not even have a window we could open in temperatures exceeding 38 degrees - which somewhat went against the marketed description of fully air-conditioned 'suites' ! To top it all the bed was broken so without ado we walked out of that horror at 10pm and were lucky enough to find an alternative abode. My point is thus - we would be more critical than the average person in the league of discerning guests
and certainly not afraid to complain when our expectations were not met with regards to comfort and cleanliness. Having stayed at Chantegrel for the first time this year, we most definitely will be back 'avec bebe' in future years and have already recommended this little piece of paradise to a number of friends. If we had wanted 5-star
luxury and all the formality and frills that go with it we would have paid
the price and gone elsewhere but Chantegrel was exactly as we expected after having done our research through the website and followed this up with the appropriate telephone call to get a feel for the place & have our queries answered. I can only reiterate that it was an ideal location to spend a tranquil & relaxing holiday - & the pool was an added bonus!"

"My husband and I stayed in La Grange for two weeks this August (16th -30th) 2003. We were accompanied by our lively daughter aged 2 years 9 months. We found the property to be extremely satisfactory and adequately equipped for all our needs. Jeremy and Michele had provided a child safety gate for the top of the stairs so that Caitlin would not fall down them in the night. Our rooms were of a good size and were clean and comfortable.
The living area was not large but that was part of the charm, after all La Grange was an old farm house and not a barn! Anyway, with the weather such as it is in the Dordogne region, there is little need for an indoors so that is why we practically lived on the terrace which afforded us wonderful views of the small valley and field of tobacco. When we come away on holiday, especially to a gite, we do not intend to spend cooler or wet days sitting indoors- these are the days for sightseeing without the heat!
The surroundings to the gite were magical; the old bread oven and the woods perfect for investigating and exploring. The pool was just superb and what particularly drew us to Chantegrel was the fact that safety around the pool area was good. Although our daughter could undo the gate from inside she was completely unable to unlock it from outside and therefore we knew that she could not get in to difficulties or indeed drown if she wandered off.
When you have a toddler who is able to walk and run around happily with minor supervision then your holiday is made. No one can say that any where is safe- our own homes are dangerous enough but when one applies minimum common sense and thought these dangers can be avoided. Our holiday was wonderful and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone."

"Hi Jeremy,
Just letting you know that both Kirk and I made it
home safely. We made the ferry with only one minute to
spare! I think this was mainly due to getting
hopelessly lost near Paris trying to find our way
along the N104. I don't think I have ever previously
traveled a more complicated 'motorway' route.
I would like to say a big 'thank you' for everything.
The gite was lovely, and was a welcome respite from
city living (it has been a shock returning to normal
life). Also I have to say thanks again for your help
repairing the bike. The make-shift gear lever did not
let me down.
All-in-all it was a great holiday.
Many thanks, Greg."

"Dear Jeremy, Thank you for all you did to make our recent holiday so perfect. Sorry we did not get to meet Michele but surely we shall be back to such a super location. The weather on our return to Portsmouth was truly awful but we arrived home safe and sound. Trust your beer order arrived safely.
Our very best wishes to your family,
Dave and Monica"
